Fit Minds

When people think about staying fit, they generally think from the neck down. But the health of your brain plays a critical role in almost everything you do: thinking, feeling, remembering, working, and playing – even sleeping. The good news is that we now know there’s a lot you can do to help keep your brain healthier as you age.

Alzheimer’s Association Brain Health Topic Sheet

Conventional wisdom has long held that aging automatically means a decline in brain function. We now have scientific evidence that decline is not inevitable. The main pillars of brain fitness are balanced diet, physical exercise, cognitive stimulation, stress management, and social engagement. Keeping your brain active and engaged increases its vitality and builds reserves of brain cells and connections. Brain fitness may be as simple as keeping your brain active through reading, conversing with friends, and engaging in interesting hobbies like playing music, painting or you can add to these by engaging in brain fitness programs.

Fit Minds Program

Fit Minds is an evidence-based cognitive stimulation program that supports and improves brain health.

Our program is conducted by Jude Rabig, RN, PhD who is a Certified Fit Minds Coach licensed to administer BCAT testing.

We begin with a comprehensive assessment. We use validated tools to evaluate current cognitive function. The testing examines:

  • orientation
  • verbal recall
  • visual recognition & recall
  • attention
  • abstraction
  • language
  • executive functions
  • visuo-spatial processing

Cognitive Training Tailored to You

The assessment assists us in determining the best program of cognitive stimulation for your level of cognition. We offer:

  • 1 on 1 customized Fit Minds Sessions
  • Fit Minds Small Group Sessions
  • In home Fit Minds programs for individuals with mild to moderate memory loss
  • Brain Health Lifestyle Sessions

Each Fit Minds session contains exercises in five key areas of cognition:

  • language and music
  • visual/spatial orientation
  • memory
  • critical thinking

We understand that everyone has a fundamental need for social connection. This is why our programs are delivered by human beings – not computers. Our programs aim to build social connections and healthy social networks. We also understand that each individual is unique. Everyone has a unique personality and situation. We incorporate this perspective into creating meaningful activities that support emotional and mental well-being. Our 6,000 + database provides novel and complex exercises to meet your needs.
